Bellwether Coffee has announced a redesigned Shop Roaster for cafés and other businesses that want to roast coffee where it is served. The October 15 update moves the machine into a metal enclosure offered in Classic White or Deep Bronze and pairs it with a new Bellwether app for roast profiles, logs, inventory, ordering, and support. The countertop configuration roasts 1.5-kilogram batches and is priced at $14,900. A $19,900 continuous configuration adds an autoloader and base cabinet capable of feeding up to 13 consecutive batches, or 20 kilograms in one operation. Bellwether says the machine is electric and smokeless, requires a 240-volt circuit, and does not need a gas line, external ductwork, or venting. A self-calibrating autoloader is designed to measure and dose the green coffee placed inside. [1] [2] [3]

Orders are open now, but the first customer deliveries are scheduled for the first quarter of 2027. The redesigned roaster is set to make its public debut at Coffee Fest Dallas on October 17–18, 2026. Those dates are upcoming; this report does not describe the trade-show debut or customer deliveries as completed. [1] [4]

Bellwether also published cost modeling based on 1,193 U.S. entries submitted to its online calculator from July through September. After removing default entries and duplicate sessions, the company found a median reported wholesale price of $14.80 per pound and modeled in-house roasting at roughly $7–8 per pound, with a five-month median payback period. These are Bellwether’s calculations from self-reported prospective-customer data—not an independent industry benchmark. Actual savings will depend on financing, labor, electricity, maintenance, green-coffee costs, volume, and local installation requirements. [1] [2]
