Xbox forms XP division to take game worlds beyond the screen
The new group unites film and television, consumer products, live experiences, and brand partnerships under one Xbox division.

Xbox announced a new division called XP on October 8, creating a single organization for the ways its game franchises reach audiences outside the games themselves. Kayleen Walters, previously an executive at Mojang, has been appointed president of the group. [1] [2]
The structure has four named areas. Xbox Pictures covers film, television, and other linear storytelling. Xbox Products handles merchandise and licensing. Xbox Places focuses on live events, broadcasts, attractions, and location-based experiences. Xbox Partnerships will work with creators, brands, communities, and sponsors. [1] [2]
Xbox described XP as a way to organize work that already existed across different teams, rather than a replacement for game development. Its announcement says games remain the foundation of these franchises, while the new division will coordinate projects built around them. [1]
The change also reshapes Mojang’s leadership. Maria Angelidou-Smith will become CEO of Mojang and Minecraft on October 19. Xbox highlighted her experience leading large community and product organizations, including work at Meta and Reddit. Both Walters and Angelidou-Smith will report to Xbox leadership. [2]
